This is a particularly dangerous issue to RE Appraisers in California. Its common knowledge that California is often the leading edge of new things, ideas,fashion, music etc NYC is usually right behind them.

There is some potential legislation currently being discussed behind the scenes in California. If this occurs or some variant there will be a mass exodus out of the State. For example in California people make a lot of money via Internet Commerce. This internet commerce can be done anywhere in the USA, especially with 5G. So their move is as simple as shutting off your laptop, get in your car and head for a friendly state and rent an apartment.

The Legislation is Reparations. The only way to actually implement Reparations is via Taxation. If you don't pay the tax then they can cease your property.

Now the population movement will not be wholesale to outside the USA because of Repatriation(20%). Unless one other movement reaches its goal. That movement is very close to Fruition. So a move to a friendly state will work unless the below comes to fruition.

This is really dangerous to everyone because in theory a group of states can bully everyone else.

Just some thoughts above as I try to reconcile all the BS that's going on now!

How about scaling your concerns to the problem at hand? Deal with the topic of this thread as an appraiser, which is something in your direct experience. Write or call someone you think will listen.

And when you get the inevitable CYA email from valued appraisal partners who are freaking out over this topic, write back and ask them what they are doing to support their valued partners. If they pander on this topic, they should answer for it.

Ya, I am reacting. Whats actually going is much larger than us appraisers. You and I already practice Professionally. There is nothing to fix. I am a Critic of the TAF on their seemingly constant wavering on what educational requirements. I am an open critic of my State Appraisal Board on what they have done to appraisers who purposely changed/modified Comparable Sale Data to dork an appraisal result. AKA as deliberate Fraud or deliberate intent to deceive. They have got better by requiring offenders to take extensive remedial education, suspending license then staying the suspension if the appraiser does the CE in the prescribed time period. , but staying suspension if the offender completes the CE in a prescribed time frame is not the answer. I am not happy with that, but its progress. I am a hard-azz when it comes to deliberate deception by an appraiser. I think they should be REVOKED! PERIOD!

AS Far as so called Valued Partners... They may be as confused about all this also. Do you really want them in our business even more? I don't. They could as a Group issue Public Statements about being gate keepers. That is tricky, because it elevates them as essential to the process, which they are not and makes it appear we need them to keep us honest! REALLY! They are just conduits, nothing more nothing less.

We are being drug into something that we did not do. What is being done is a group it is assembling all kinds of examples to explain why they are where they are now!

Agreed. It's a systematic witch hunt, this industry is not being singled out, it's just another target.
