Black Homeowners Face Discrimination in Appraisals

There's no way it should have taken "staging" to get a clean appraisal. No way. Look at the lengths appraisers go to with the interior pics they take.

The demographics reported for Jacksonville show POCs comprise 40% of the population. An appraiser who is working in the Jacksonville doing 5 or 7 appraisals a week is going to be running into residents who are POCs every single week. There's no way that appraiser could be abusing anyone of any race or ethnicity for any length of time without it becoming obvious and acutely painful for the lenders they're working for. Appraisers also can't be making negative or rude comments on a regular basis without those people complaining to the lenders. Nobody tolerates that kind of conduct from an appraiser.

If some appraiser is only sometimes acting on their racial biases; if they aren't victimizing POC borrowers every week but chose to single this one out then I guess it was just blind luck that this victim turned out to be an attorney who has all the SJW terms like "generational wealth" and such on the tip of her tongue.

I very much want to see the $330k appraisal. If some appraiser did the things being alleged here then they deserve to get the book thrown at them. And I'm not just talking about getting cut off of some lender's approval panel.

Now would be a good time for the FL State Board to get involved, on an expedited basis.

I am open to the possibility that this is a real issue for some people. I also think it is (in the majority of cases) mostly "their" issue...when you see the entire world thru a lens of everyone not like me must be a racist...everything you see becomes racist. It becomes real for them because they are unwilling to perceive any other possibility. It's very sad actually.

Other newspapers can pick up an article, credit the NYT, but then edit for their own markets.
If the Times revised they would show the changes on the Corrections page.

edit they put revisions at the end of the article for online articles

Nobody ever reads correction or retractions in NY-LA and major City News Papers. It Reminds me years ago I knew an attorney that was always having Judges or other Attorneys screaming- The Judge would order the court stenographer to strike what had been said from the record, then the Judge would instruct the Jury to ignore-what they had heard. I asked him seems like you do that a lot ? He said once a Jury hears something its planted in their heads and when I am losing I open a window to a mistrial or if I get lucky the Jurors did not forget what I said and they believed it.

I said when you do that is it true-what you said to a jury or in court ? He said well usually but my job is to get my client off and I do what I have to do . The same with NY Times and others once millions of readers get it in their head DOES anyone think they are gong to read retractions ? NO - Those are only done after the NY Times LA -Times wants to cover their bases regarding potential libel suits.

I'm dead serious about the need to refer this case to the state appraisal board and for the complaint to be resolved one way or the other in a timely manner. By which I do not mean 6 months from now.

FREAB is incompetent- they still have not figured out how to implement State Law regarding appraisers completing Evaluations that do not conform to USPAP; its been three years.
