Did anyone read the story in the New York Times by Debra Kamin? In a nutshell, according to this article, the house appraised for $330,000. The Homeowner and the mortgage company were not happy with the result and ordered another appraisal. However, the real estate agent removed any and all items in the house that could indicate who owned the house. Wah lah, the house now appraised at $465,000. This scenario was presented to a US House subcommittee. No other material facts were given in the article. Can you believe this sh**.

It shouldn't matter what race but I can't remember the last time I appraised a house with a Black borrower. It's must have been at least 10 years.

Want to create a race war ? Keep this BS going :) LOL

So you have 2 different appraiser's with 2 different EVO;

also the dwelling was "staged", thus supporting to different scenario's, I did not read anything about the "staging aspect"

Watching journalisms decline makes one wonder about the theory of evolution.

In the article I read (and posted link above):

"According to Abena Horton's post, "we took down all family pictures containing Black relatives. We took down all pictures of African-American greats that we display to inspire our son. Zora Neale Hurston and Toni Morrison came down from the bookshelves; Shakespeare went up. My son and I took a convenient shopping trip during the appraisal, leaving my white male husband to show the appraiser around, alone."

“My heart kind of broke,” Ms. Horton told the Times. “I know what the issue was. And I knew what we needed to do to fix it, because in the Black community, it’s just common knowledge that you take your pictures down when you’re selling the house. But I didn’t think I had to worry about that with an appraisal.”
