Wife picked up a bosch- laser measured at Lowes. Checked it out, very accurate. Don't need Bluetooth, etc? At $95, this is a good alternate to a Disto

Mine crapped out after three years and really ate up batteries. Hard to see the red laser in bright sun. I went back to my tape. I am just old school.

I use the Stanley FatMax. Perfectly fine for nearly all measuring, except in bright sun. I use it about 70% of the time, but also carry a 30' tape + a 100' tape in a tool pouch for those instances where the laser won't work easily.

I like my Disto A5 but its a little bulky and the red dot is hard to see outside in bright light. I haven't had to change the batteries in 3 years and its very accurate.

I have the Bosch and except for the bright sun does a good job.

I've got a Bosch too. Has saved my arse many times in measuring warehouses with racks and inventory all over the place. Also works great to get ceiling heights, a major factor when it comes to industrial properties.

Is there a particular model number to look for on the Bosch? I see at least 3 different models.

There are 5 models, I believe. I would either go with the $100 GLR225, if money is tight - which has a 230' distance: http://cgi.ebay.com/Bosch-GLR225-La...456?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bcce1318

Or the $350 GLR825, which has a 1.6 power viewfinder and a 830' distance. http://www.google.com/products/cata...a=X&ei=j0grTsfnKO39sQLs2JTMCw&ved=0CFQQ8wIwAA

I have the DLR165. I like it, but I would like to upgrade to the GLR825 for the 1.6 viewfinder to help in bright light at longer distances. (with the $100 price on the 225, I would pass on the 135 or 165...they aren't much cheaper and they are older)
