BPO Fight Upcoming in PA

just got email from PAR regading that... how can we organize & fight against it???
 
the only way to fight it is to show the damage that BPOs do to property owners, and to have appraiser groups join with special interest and consumer groups to lobby the state.

Hey, but last weeks newsletter said that PAR is in Harrisburg trying to remove school taxes from property and increase sales taxes to 7%+ Think what that will do to the price of gas.

And ammo,

Bibles are tax free.

As long as appraiser resist doing studies to provide evidence of why an issue is important to us, and as long as appraisers look for glory and refuse to engage the wider society with data, information, results, and solid reasons why the wider society should join our cause, we will not win anything with politicians, local or federal.

Realtors, AMCs, lenders, and the JTs of the world, all gather supporting facts and data to present an argument and will join together with interested groups to push their agendas.

Not true with appraisers.

We stand alone and whine about how important, educated and impressive we are.

What next? Call your local friendly realtor for the value of your home instead of your local appraiser. General public will not be able to discern any difference between an appraiser and a realtor once the NAR gets through with their campaign.

I was thinking more along the lines of being replaced by Zillow (ha!) or the lender will just ask the borrower... "Mr./Mrs. Borrower, what would you say the house is worth?"... "We'll go with that."

Or as long as the profits exceed the losses, what difference does value make anyway (sarcasm intended). m2:

All appraisers who are so very good at connecting dots should be paying attention,

Every week NAR sends out surveys and reports that say appraisers are killing deals which is bad for the economy.

Then they attack each state that does not allow for BPOs and win over the legislature.

Can you project the next dot that they will be after?

Can you accept that maybe Sandy has a good point, although not presented clearly.

If we are killing sales and holding back the economy, and.... NAR is making inroads with the legislatures and getting valuation standards relaxed..... the end game should be smacking everyone in the face.
