Are any of you guys and gals part of these organizations? Does anyone know of anything like this in So Cal? (saw this on an email I got from Affiliated Appraisers Workshop)

"SPEAKING OF AIN: The Affiliated Appraisers Workshop is happy to announce the new networking group created by local appraisers in the Sacramento area. While the AIN meetings may be a little hard for appraisers in other areas to attend, they are already posting info and links helpful to the rest of us at: www.AppraisersInfoNet.com. We applaud the proliferation of these local groups including ACN in Ventura County, as well as the REAA and Tri-County Appraisers Forum in Northern California."

Its a Shame.

Wow......Pete, I came here thinking I might find some good info. I don't know what to think. I expected to see some links, invites. I know the REAA is a functioning group in the east bay area of greater SF/Oakland and I've spoken to appraisers that are part of the NorCal tri-county group. I'll check back again later.

Hi Folks

REAA is definately a "functioning" group and well functioning at that. Currently there are 3 chapters, one in Sacramento, one in East Bay and one in North Bay with rumor of more coming soon. Check them out on the web by googling REAA and you'll find all 3 chapters.

AIN is purely a networking group to help share info with other appraisers and give an opportunity to "lunch" with folks that speak your language. Coming from 8 years as a BofA appraiser we had many folks to network with that made each of us better. I was blessed to work with John Brennan (now with The Appraisal Foundation and does the Q & A's) and some of the investigators at OREA are former BofA folks. I say this to highlight the quality of folks you can find networking and how greatly it can help appraisers that are sharing info. If we help someone else be better we all look better to our business partners and clients.

Pete

I'm part of AIN and encourage you to start a networking group in your area if there is not one now. Also join the Appraisers Watercooler (google it if your not already on it).

Reaa

Is REAA capable of growing in membership to one day represent California Appraisers in Sacramento, to give us a unified voice? Are there any long/short term goals in this direction?

Expanding to all of California and working with the OREA are some of their goals.

Here is their Mission Statement:

To promote professionalism in real estate appraising by providing to our members and the users of our services, education and models of professional practice with participation in appraisal industry and regulatory changes.

If you want details I suggest you contact them direct. Better yet, join.

Curious… what differentiates REAA from AI or ASA Chapters in California? Is REAA more grass roots… or just another redundant version of the aforementioned organizations?

either way...they / we need to join forces, otherwise divided we fall!

Thanks folks! This definitely warrants investigation. I'll let you know what I find out.
