California Licensing Fees Increased to $1,030 Every Two Years

No doubt the state needs the money. So many problems need funding from affordable housing, homeless to climate change.

BREA is funded solely on licensing fees and fines. It's not about the State needing money. And I think CA's economy is ranked 4th in the nation despite the highest GDP.

I have a brokers license for over 30 years and they are really nice people. I pay almost nothing to renew license and they are not heavy handed like the Tar-Pit : )

Yes, I know. My mom and dad got their brokers licenses in the 60's while working for the same RE companies you prolly worked for in the 80's. Gene Hart, Monty Radlovich, etc. :)

And while your're certainly anything but vacuous, you can be bombastic at times. LOL

In this state the Appraisal Board is funded via license fees but any surplus is taken by the state for their general fund. Maybe CA is doing the same? What happens to any surplus? If the state raises fees, there might be more of a surplus for them to confiscate.

Too bad, look at the graph and verbiage. The cost of licensing, registration and administration is not being covered. After this, you should expect another fee increase as more appraisers, AMCs and course providers drop off.

Half the number of licenses today than 2007? That can't be correct.

I see it.

I guess those 8000 licenses leading up to 2007 are all trainee licenses.

I can spell pity without my glasses on

Good grief. "Pitty" is an alternative spelling to "pity". I read a lot of older texts, classics, even old English. And German and French. So, I've always had some problems with spelling. Although nowadays, it is mostly the blurry screen, or forgetting to replace my progressives with the appropriate bifocal. ...

But those days when I say to myself: "What happened to Terrel, - he must have woken up with a hangover - or something."

“A man would die tonight of lying out on the marshes, I thought. And then I looked at the stars, and considered how awful it would be for a man to turn his face up to them as he froze to death, and see no help or pitty in all the glittering multitude.”

Charles Dickens - "Great Expectations"

Oh yes, God is merciless, - so sayeth the appraiser, kin of the almighty.

The good old days, when trainees for the "good old supervisors" could use $25/sf for everything, take a few pictures, make some subjective judgments of view, quality, condition to get the value to the target, -- are gone, more or less. Then, even good appraisers can't make a decent living here.

I remember one gal that used to appraise in Pacifica I think back around 2001-2 or so and moved to Kansas, sending me an email about how great it was in Kansas. The cost of everything was lower and the fees just as good. Smart gal!

Oh come on.

Just tell the state you work for Appraisal MANAGEMENT Companies,

and that under test B. of their subcontractor/employee law, you are a miss-classified employee, so your de-facto employers need to pay the licensing fees.

After all,

you are not doing anything outside of the normal business of Appraisal MANAGEMENT Companies.

:giggle:
