Sam, I'm in the same position as you (waiting to take the Trainee's test). I ordered a practice CD from ExamPrep.biz. It is a fairly in-depth program with Trainee tests, Certified Residential tests and Certified General tests. Also, it has practice sections for appraisal topics (USPAP, Site Valuation and the Cost Approach, The Sales Comparison Approach, etc.).
I'm still taking the Certified Residential tests to make sure I can pass them. I assume I won't have too much trouble with the Trainee's test if I can consistently get an 85-90 on the CR test.

I remember when I took the test to get a trainee license. It was about 3 or 4 months after finishing the Anthony classes. I forgot all about it until the admission to exam letter came from OREA. I scheduled the exam and then forgot about it until the night before. Next morning I had to get up at 5:30 a.m. to make it to Oakland on time thorough the traffic. Got stuck in traffic in San Rafael AND in Emeryville AND on the 880 just before the offramp to where the exams were to be. I made it to the classroom with a couple of minutes to spare. After spending about an hour at the test console (it's a Dell PC nowdays) I said "F" it and handed in my exam.

Passed it.

Same deal with my upgrade to AR.

Read USPAP, understand jargon and how to figure out percentages and parcel sizes, ask yourself if the scenario would cause harm to someone and choose the best answer that would cause no harm, and you'll probably pass.

It's more of an ethics test than a technical test, IMO.

I just got back from my test... I Passed.

It only took me about an hour to complete. It was just like the practice exams, almost the identical questions. One area that I didn't study for and was on the exam was "Statistics" and "Standard Deviations".

I used the Allied CD and someone from the forum told me about www.learnappraising.com
That was probably the best source.

Learning appraising.com is great. Best 59 bucks I ever spent, and the site is good for a year.

I have passed the state exam on this past saturday. Most of the question were identical to those in the Cd provided by allied school.

It took about less than an hour to finish the test, and the result certificate with PASS handed to me.
