Well if you're not keeping your license, you don't need your workfiles either....but I get what you're saying.
Honestly, I think you're stuck. I would stay with alamode, start keeping current workfiles on a backup drive from this point forward and then convert some old files a few at a time going backwards. That way you either move far enough back or 5 years goes by and you can change software.
