Carbon Monoxide Detector: Appropriate Location ?

Status
Not open for further replies.
Every new home tract i have been in in the past +- 10 year has the smoke and combination carbon monoxide detectors installed in the ceilings, which are typically 8' high, and that is home developments in a lot of different cites and unincorporated county areas in California. The "preferable no more than ' high" appears to be a recommendation and not a requirements or code.

I noticed yesterday our smoke detectors are all from 2009. Except the one from 2007.
Then I learned you can't buy the 9 volt battery kind here.
It has to be hard wired, or have a non replaceable battery that is supposed to last 10 years.
Hopefully the higher price is partly offset by not having to buy 9 volt batteries. :leeann:

All the 110V ones also have 9V battery too; i.e. fire during power outage..
