The call came in at 10:35 AM. Lender needs a quick Certificate of Completion on a house we appraised in order to close Friday. Appraiser tells Loan Officer to calm down, prepare the documents and not to worry.

Right after lunch, Appraiser straps on camera and along with the Office Manger, dressed in shorts and Tevas (it’s an office day), jump on their mountain bikes for the ¾ mile ride to the house. They are accompanied by the local Homeland Security Director (aka Peggy Soo, a 9 year old Golden Retriever). They bike to the house, find the hidden key (laying on top of the electrical service box), go in, take pictures, check everything, chase Peggy Soo who had sneaked in an open door back outside, locked the house, returned the key to its secret hiding place on the electrical service box and hopped back on the bikes for the rapid trip home. Unfortunately, the Homeland Security Director has to make two pit stops on the way, delaying the preparation of the report. Back at the office while the Appraiser downloads photos, the Office Manager gets two glasses of iced tea, opens the file and then fill out and prints invoice. (Homeland Security Director retires to cool tile floor located in the Foyer to watch the front door). Photos are inserted, report filled in, printed and faxed along with invoice.

Another successful appraisal assignment handled. Another Loan Officers feet pulled from the fire.

And that Boys and Girls is appraising in the great northern part of Michigan.

Dave Smith, across the lake, where we have perfect weather but too many tourists. :(

Are you hiring? No Tevas, but I have an old Schwinn.

Lord, lord. To have an appraisal within 3/4 of a mile of home. I go farther than that just to have enough room to change my mind
