:D

After nearly 2 weeks of problems with Cert Mail, several calls to tech support, and no end in sight, I decided to ditch cert mail and use an outside service. This is not the first time Cert Mail has failed, it's been down a few other times this year. Every time I'm told that they are working on it and that they are getting new servers, but the problems persist. Now I'm told that they are rolling out a new server system in January. HELLO... I need my email now, not in 2 months.

GOT A NEW EMAIL SERVICE = PROBLEM SOLVED!

My new email service took less than 1/2 a day to setup (did it overnight so no downtime), and it is about 20 times faster! If you are looking for a better email solution, let me know and I'll PM you the details.

Sorry Alamode, but the last 2 years you've been a real let down.

I still have Road Runner. I may put it back. The Certmail user interface is wacky. If I highlight a message and hit the delete key, it will not delete it. I have to use my mouse and hit the delete button. Is that what they call updating? Yes, I can get E-mail and look professional because my email is connected to my business name, but the way it is set up, it feels out dated. Come On AlaMode. But then again, from what the chairman has mentioned before, and I am paraphrasing "we have made up our minds" . So we can "B" "B" but may not matter.

As with any business, dissatisfied customers that leave will send a stronger message to them.

You don't have to abandon the entire system if you don't want to, I'm only re-directing my email to a new service provider. It's still the same email address, just not handled by Alamode's Cert Mail servers.

Alamode is trying to do too many things at the same time. I don't think they took the hosting and email portion of the business as serious as they did their appraisal software.

I like their software, just not the service. The only time I CALL tech support is to find out why my email is down, etc. Why should I pay for that year after year?

I think that Alamode's business model decision was to provide a complete package of software, services and features in order to capture a larger market share. To an extent they have successfully done that. But if they can't live up to their promises, people will leave in droves.

Ask yourself... did you buy the Alamode software because of their email feature?

--- Probably not.

Did you buy because of xsites?

--- Maybe, but now that they have a ranking system that only favor the first 10 or appraisers that bought their software in any given county, what are the chances anyone will give you new business?

Did you buy because of Vault?

--- Have you heard about a portable external hard drive? Costs around $100. And you can store it at a friend's house.

Did you buy because of the website?

--- You can host your entire website at www.godaddy.com for as little as $3.95 a month (that's less than $48 a year)!!!

Did you buy for online ordering or credit cards?

--- You can setup online ordering really easy at most providers and credit cards, I'll stick to COD or PayPal (which is FREE).

So ask yourself these questions... and be honest with yourself.

You bought the software because it's a fine good appraisal software, the rest is just fluff.

I use something called "Outlook Express". Works pretty well, & it came free with the computer. I've never had a problem sending or receiving any size file.

Yep, but you still need a Service Provider to process the send and receive of the email... such as yahoo, AOL, register.com, goddady.com or some other provider.

Set it up to come through your Outlook. There is a solution to everything.

I did, but if the certmail is down, how do we know we recieved emails.

You need a different service provider for your email, not Alamode's Cert Mail.
