Chicken Coops In The Backyard

My son lived in conventional suburbia, typical subdivision with culdasacs, small back yard, and he had a coop and 4 chickens. I don;t see it as a big deal.

if it's not a municipal or zoning violation and can be cleaned up at a nominal cost, what's the problem?

If you want to cover your butt, note it in your comments, note that there's no apparent reason it should affect value, and move on.

being a big city boy, the 1st time i saw a small chicken coup in the back yard i didn't realize the variety of chickens, or how nice they looked. i remember seeing chickens in the rear photo, but no one said anything.

That was just our friend, Hennie. :peace:

Cock fights in El Rio rarely get busted.

The Book of Adjustmemnts suggests +$25 per hen, and -$50 per cock because they make to much noise. There’s a section in M&S for chicken coops, but only in the special rural paper version. I suggest adjusting at depreciated cost unless matched pairs are possible. Good luck.

i have a friend who bought the rear half of his neighbor's yard (lots are roughly 100' x 900') so he could have more chickens. city code only allowed him to have 2 with his original parcel but now he can have as many as he likes. he built one hell of a chicken coop, complete with automatic doors. it is really a sight to see, if you are into chickens i guess. personally i don't care so long as my grocery store has eggs since it's cheaper to buy them than it would be for me to raise them based on the amount i consume.

he still can't have a rooster though, which begs the question how do you keep making new chickens without roosters???
