Cleaning The Printheads On My HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A

I'm running the 8600 for a couple of years as well, for all functions. Also find it to be pretty economical.

If you were using non HP ink (officemax refills, etc) it has been my experience that the ink is not as clean or as functional. There is lot of engineering that ors into that stuff.

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8000 that I have used a few too many non HP Black inks & cleaning the heads doesn't work for very long. The same thing happened to my Office Jet Pro 5400-I think that was the number.

That series is really fast printing, especially in draft mode. And, using the high capacity cartridges, it is less expensive than Laser.

Get a new printer. They come with ink & new print heads:)

The OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus is $160 on Amazon & Staples. Make sure it is the 8600 Plus & not the regular 8600.

That is what I am using for a few months now. Great scanner & copy function, legal size scanning bed & draft printing as fast as my HP 8000 (non MFC) printer.

I've always use HP ink.

I have also been having a problem with the printer dropping off of the network. I had to go in and give my printer a static IP address because my computer kept changing the original IP address.

That's a good idea:icon_idea:

I've been using my 8500A Plus for four years. Never used any ink but OEM and am on original printheads. Cost have been cheaper than my Canon black laser printer.

It has great functionality but it's rather slow and annoying during the very regular "cleaning print heads" process

Another thumbs up for the HP printers if you use OEM ink. I've been using an OfficeJet G85 for over 10 years and the thing is a workhorse! I might just check out the 8600 plus since there is a few positive comments here.

Same here. They go on coupon at costco every 6 months or so. Forget how much, but it was less than replacing the bad printheads on my last printer.

I rarely print, so the original ink cartridges have been in it for a couple years now. Scanner is excellent.

Same, highly recommend the 8600.

However I also used remanufactured ink and it blew my printheads very quickly. Fortunately it was in warranty and HP sent a new head, albeit after over 45 minutes on the phone with India while they talked me through all the possible "fixes".
