Columbus to overhaul zoning, elimination of SFR possible as they follow lead of changing demographics for higher density

In response to the massive quantity of variances necessary to support new development based on the outdated zoning codes; Columbus is overhauling the zoning code, to allow higher-density uses. This follows the lead of other up-and-coming urban cities, some of which have eliminated SFR zoning.

They have been doing that for years with the Traditional neighborhood districts. Granted the variance process is antiquated. But IMHO. They will probably see quite a bit of resistance from the public. The public has been more and more against some of the proposed high density developments in the urban areas.

It is definitely the trend. there was so much pushback to get the last zoning update done in Seattle. The elimination of SFR zoning would cause riots. Real ones this time. Don't mess with the NIMBYs.
