Anyone had issues with Alamode nickel/diming you? I am a one man office. I have your Elite Wintotal program version, one appraiser, one signature. I have the program loaded on my main computer (several years old), a newer second computer, an older laptop, a newer ipad, and my iphone. These are all on the same home internet connection, I have no IT department, no server, or additional workstations. I have been using Wintotal for 20+ years and have never had an issue, however over the past few weeks I have had several calls on needing to upgrade to either a server, additional workstation, or get a second license?

Confirmed today by Alamode you cannot have the program running on two computers even if they are not used simultaneously. I have a new computer which is used only as a backup for comp photos and I have to delete Alamode off it. No other appraisal software company that I'm aware of does this, so sad. Lesson is if your starting out use something other then Alamode.

If they hassle me I will start looking elsewhere. I like to use a desktop, and can't bring that with me when I go out of town easily, so I use a laptop in case I need to address anything in reports while out of town. If they want to lose a long time customer over that it is their choice.

It's almost like Stockholm syndrome or Tesla owners the way appraisers put up with their BS and are defensive about it. . There's not an infinite number of appraisers and there are better alternatives.

Only been 6-7 years for me. Yugo software for Mercedes prices. Parasites at best.
Can you advise any specific software options you like? I will have to start up fresh on a new software when my account with Alamode runs out later this year.

i will tell you to accept the situation. there are very few computer programs that you can run on several computers with buying only 1 license. most programs you have to buy the package of however many. the question is then, the cost. normally, the extra uses aren't a terrible price. now i know corelogic is too big to care, so will it be worth the new leaning curve.

So a one man shop should just pay the $2100/year and accept the situation. Don't think i'm that generous...

Sorry that I can't help you. I still use my copy of Alamode, the version from several years ago and use it only for the GP form since I don't do F/F appraising.

90+% of my work is narrative with Word and Excel. On occasion I use the GP form for some simple, SFR appraisals. They (Alamode) must be on a dollar hunting mission. Its been 6-7 years since I last bought their support/extortion plan but they've started calling and emailing me again.
