Copies to lender??

Lee Ann:

Once Congress permitted electronic signatures, the receiver of the report was able to accept your report. I believe the copy the lender receives does show your signature although I never see a report on the other end. I base this conclusion on a conversation with a California processor. She indicated that there was a state law prohibiting a signature in black regardless what Congress said. My software has the capability to show my signature in red and blue as well as the standard black. Therefore, whenever I EDI a report to CA I use a blue signature. During the Christmas season I use red. I'm certain that if you are hand delivering or Fed Exing a report to a client the signature still has to be in some color other than black. To restate my earlier comments. Any report with your signature placed on it either by your hand or electronically is an original copy. Any original report dupicated in any manner is a copy. If others see it differently I would like to hear.

Larry:
I use black because it is what is scanned in!

Never had a complaint regardless of client location, inclusive of California, I'd ask your next contact ther eto produce the 'state law' for your perusal  ...

sounds like stupid underwriting tricks to me

I have used blue on a few specific clients at their request. Beats missing a page of signature and haveing to express a second copy!

Lee Ann:

If I had to go to a lot of trouble I would question the law because not all CA lenders ask for a color other than black. Because I can pick the color with a simple click of the old mouse button I don't worry about it. Seems there are more pressing issues these days to get the blood pressure up.

Yah... agreed that there is no point in getting your knickers in a twist...

But I can with humility, and humor: very nicely question what I see as rampant stupidity and instant 'cause-I-SAID-so' validity, so as to have established a reputation for wisdom 8) and knowing my business :P so that when it DOES come down to a real knock-down-drag-out...

Anazing how often when one gently questions 'authority' that answer comes back "You are right!" 8O

I have gotten HUD and other real authorities to back down on issues more than once through completely polite requests to provide source docs for their 'policy', which in fact was a single clerk 'saying so'.
