I’m curious if anyone has recent costs to construct piers for general permit, residential use, tidal creek, sound or ICWW. Basic pier, T-platform, no rails, 8” round pilings or 4x4, 6 feet wide decking. Ball park figures per linear foot appreciated. Jacksonville, Florida to Maryland, sandy soil, jet wash pilings.

Try Marshall & Swift. I have no idea. It is a specialty.

Thanks Mike. I should have been clearer and said it’s not for appraisal purposes which is why I put this in the general real estate forum which I hope is okay. I’m looking for actual costs within a few hundred miles. It’s safe to assume piers are a little more expensive in your neck of the woods, right? :)

Costs run between $90-110 per linear foot. Floating docks, safety rails, extent of bracing and economy of scale regarding length also factor in. The prices seem to increase immediately after hurricanes due to the increase in repairs. I’m trying to locate an area which is slow/depressed because the crews will travel. I refuse to sub it out due to workman’s comp risks. I have a contact near Georgetown, SC who says he may have someone.

Rich, I figured pier construction folks would be a dime a dozen given that anything east of 95 on the water was being sold at exorbitant prices. Whats up with the lack of data and contractors?

6' wide, all steel pier with rails will set you back about $500 per linear foot on 50 to 100 foot piers. Wood about $150 per foot.

Rex I’m putting in a personal one, one for a joint venture and getting bids for one for a third party. The total for the 3 will be around 1100-1200 feet so I’m shopping. At roughly $100 a foot here, I’m hoping to find someone slow in the region who can do all 3 for $75-80 a foot. With several hurricanes followed by a glut of new water developments, the local marine contractors have gotten spoiled. I’m hoping the Georgetown lead will work out. Greg $150 a foot sounds very reasonable for the west coast depending on the soil/sand.
