Court Appointed Assignment Scenario

I have been asked by the husband to do an appraisal, he fears it will just be the same report that was already done for the wife for the court.

I thought you said you were being court appointed. Is the court appointing you or is the husband hiring you?

You mean you were one of the parties who appraised the property first? Then you are asked to provide a 3rd???? No go sunny. A third appraisal should be prepared by a third appraiser. You have a conflict of interest.

I agree with Terrel. I'm surprised you were asked.

I apologize for the confusion.

There is one appraiser with two reports. One was for the wife and one is for the court. Both reports are for the divorce.

The husband is asking me to do an appraisal, not the court.

The court appointed appraiser and the wife’s appraiser is the same appraiser.

The question I’m asking this forum, would you have accepted the “Court Appointed Assignment” if you have done the divorce appraisal already for the wife?

No, I would not.

I would think that opposing council would strongly object & try and push the bias card on the court appointed appraisal b/c there is a the illusion of bias toward the wife.

I would not have accepted the assignment. I just wanted to hear from the forum, sorry for the confusing post.

If I were the other appraiser I wouldnt have accepted it .. but arent you glad they did .. will make for a very fun time for you and the husbands attorney in court. Have Fun .... this should be a blast.

"Gee, Dad. How can you represent me in court and be the Prosecuting Attorney at the same time?"

"Son. I want to make sure you are persecuted to the full extent of the law or my name isn't George Leroy Tirebiter"...
or something like that. - Firesign Theatre, circa 1968

Methinks the appraiser has a conflict of interest and if I read that right...are you saying his value was $100,000 different????? between the two reports.
