Gov. M. Jodi Rell signed Public Act 10-77 into law May 18.

Under the new law, which takes effect Oct. 1, AMCs operating in Connecticut will be required to register with, and be overseen by, the Connecticut Real Estate Appraisal Commission and the Commissioner of Consumer Protection.

AMCs operating in Connecticut also will be prohibited from influencing or attempting to influence the development, reporting, result or review of a real estate appraisal through coercion, extortion or collusion by withholding or threatening to withhold timely payment or future business from an appraiser. > FULL STORY
