And this is the way Stars see's it:

Important message from STARS:

STARS has been receiving inquiries in reference to the impact of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Bill (HR 4173), specifically around what STARS will be doing to ensure that “reasonable and customary” fees are to be paid to appraisers.

As more defined guidelines are promulgated by the Federal Reserve Board regarding Customary and Reasonable Fees, STARS will pro-actively evaluate the requirements, address any necessary changes and communicate results to our appraiser network.

At this time our current fee schedules are still in effect and fee changes will approved per our current policy based on complexity of the assignment.

In other words, we are lobbying hard, and TAVMA and the lenders are also lobbying hard to make sure the guidelines are in our favor or at least there are some "loopholes" in the wording of the document.

Appraisers do not give up!! Keep contacting the FEDS, you know they are!!! Keep on letting your voices be heard. Now is not the time to stop!

In other words, We know that the bill suggests that the fees will be going up in October but we are doing all we can to see that that doesnt happen.

It is like driving 100mph on the freeways when there are photo radar cameras. It is fun for a while, until you recieve the $10,000 to $20,000 fines that you have been accumulating.

I know that there are a few states that would love to collect those fines.

Ken,

There isn't going to be any fines. This is going to be in the court system for years while our fees continue to struggle. All the AMCs have to do is file a lawsuit over it and it's game over for awhile so they can continue to fleece us.

According to the AI, the YOUR state attorney general can go after them. :)

I forget where I saw it, but a author was contending the
constitution should have said there were 4 branches to
goverment. It added corporations that get the laws they
want by buying off the other three.

AI finally stepping up to the plate!.....

The AI has been stepping up to the plate for a few years now as can be documented on this forum. Many just choose to ignore it.

Most state AMC laws enacted are modeled after the AI template.

I agree 100%.

They have been doing a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes as well.

I just wish more appraisers would join so that would have more political clout in Washington.

MichiganCG: You might be enlightened if you were to seek the reasons why "many just choose to ignore it."
