The desktop on the laptop computer will not fit on the screen. Something changed it and I can not get it back to the correct size. I went in to displays in Windows Xp and can not change the resolution. Any ideas on how to correct this?

Start button, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore, restore to an earlier point. This does not change files only settings. Restore back to when you know the screen was normal.

Or, right click on your screen and click on properties, then settings. Adjust your screen resolution from there. You may have to adjust several times to make it right.

Look for some hotkeys (sometimes blue writing, sometimes brown) on your laptop's keyboard that may allow you to change between the built-in monitor and an external monitor (and both at the same time - should be 3 settings). If, for some reason, you accidentally switched it to show on the built-in and external monitors, it may be trying to display itself at a more "normal" resolution intended for desktop monitors. Laptop monitors often require a "non-standard" resolution setting, as do most of the newer "wide-screen" LCD desktop monitors.
