Don't the AMCs 'sell' you on the lower fee for a higher volume of orders?

I agree with Darrel Clark and believe this should be disclosed.

You guys are overthinking this.
As a business owner, you can and should negotiate your fees with your clients. If you have agreed to a set fee with a AMC, that is negotiating. This has nothing to do with the actual appraisal process. Get over yourself.

You guys are wack jobs. This thread is strictly posted here to get the "discounted" mud to start flinging again.

This gets old.
Lower fees for more volume, Bull
Better quality for more volume, thats the ticket..........

I will grant calling it a fee to get the assignment as being one valid way to view it; however, it is like a merchant not being able to charge more for someone using a credit card under the agreement with the credit card company, but not being in violation of that agreement with they give a discount for paying cash. The difference is merely one of semantics, but often that is sufficient.

Never underestimate the importance of semantics.

AMC Appraisal Fees

In my opinion those who support the outrageously low fees of AMC's are nothing but industry *****s who drive down the price of appraisals and deliver low quailty work. Any self respecting appraiser worth his salt would not work for such low fees. How do they do it? They hire appraisal trainees that work for nothing and blow out of this business when they finally figure it out, the majority come from unrelated fields from car salesman to hairdressers with no experience what so ever in the real estate industry. They are given little support or training and sent to the field to perform appraisals. This is what happens when you have a low entry level in a profession. Even with new laws going into effect raising entry levels maybe to little to late. SHAME! SHAME! on you appraiser that except such low fees.

If an appraiser charges an AMC less than their base fee should they disclose in the appraisal report that the AMC received a discount for the procurement of the assignment?

No........!
