Of all the model Distos, is the brightness of the red dot brighter on some models than others? I'm thinking about upgrading from my D5.

Thanks in advance!

Distos using AA batteries benefit from a somewhat brighter red dot than those using AAA batteries.

The class (strength) of the actual laser itself is listed in the specs for each Disto. I don't know how they compare up and down their line-up, but when I was debating between the X4 and 7500i I noted they had the same laser light specs.

FWIW, I believe the X4 is the superior device for most appraisers. Doesn't hurt that it is about $150 less than the E7500i, either … ;-)

I have a pair of Dewalt red laser enhancement glasses I might be willing to let go for cheap.
You will look extra geeky in them. :leeann2:

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the responses. I think most of the Distos feature the same class laser so unless you need all of the extra stuff, it's just not worth it. I only need the add/subtract and viewfinder. Unfortunately, there are no handheld laser units with a green laser at this point.

Why not strap a green laser to your Disto and know that the Disto laser hits the target "X" distances up or down from where the green laser hits?

With the cross hairs on the view finder you don't need to see the dot whether red or green.

I ended up purchasing the X4 from appraiserlaser.com. The D5 has been touch and go lately. It's been dropped so many times and soaked in the snow and rain that I'm surprised it has held up this long. It's been a great unit. Hopefully, the X4 is as good if not better.
