Do appraisers use discord?

We have AF, Reddit, Facebook, National Appraisal Forum, and LinkedIn. AF is the best because of the diversity of opinion, it is the OG, and since it is a forum it allows for debate. The other sites don't do "debate" as well IMO, which is why I don't participate. FB and now Reddit seem to be most popular.

That's where discord shines though. They're not private rooms, nor is it intended to fragment what already exists. The integration is has with many other platforms is what makes it superior to websites such as this which have largely been untouched for decades and have stagnated. What the modern internet appreciates is something constantly updated and kept up with trends, all while being easily accessible to all who wish to join it. Discord itself is not only lightweight and streamlined but has communities which are public and accessible to everyone. Not to mention that most websites (even this one) have copious amounts of sponsored and targeted ads that generally pollute the experience. That's why I posed this question to gauge whether appraisers were knowledgeable about discord or not.

Seeing that I am dealing with a SHILL for Discord, I have to revisit the highlighted part of your earlier reply and add the following:

"Integration ... with many other platforms"?

WTF is that even supposed to mean? What makes you think any of us would be interested in being on "many other platforms" and wasting even more days/months/years of our lives having our brains turned to mush by the big screen instead of actually living LIFE (hint: "LIFE" is what happens outside of your monitor screen - or your "Idiot Phone".)

And THAT is why THIS forum is still the place to go for appraising topics, even if it is less visited than it once was.

Well, they just went from 600 employees to 170 in early 2024. Platform looks confusing as heck to me. I couldn't even see an appraisal subforum. And I'm weary of techies that think they know what appraisers do, but that's just me.

I'm actually curious if there are any appraisers who use discord as a community platform to meet other appraisers/bounce ideas off each other. Or is this not something most appraisers would be familiar with or even use?
Found this OP. Looks like your community platform is in play....

Hey folks,
I wanted to share with you all a fantastic resource that has been growing steadily over the past two years – our Discord server for real estate appraisers!
Back when I was just starting out as a trainee, I created this space to connect with fellow professionals in the field. Fast forward two years, and I'm now a Certified General appraiser, thanks in no small part to our community's incredible support and knowledge.
This server isn't just about swapping appraisal stories (although we do plenty of that!). It's a place where we dive deep into exam prep strategies, discuss market trends, and offer advice on navigating the complexities of our profession.
I'm especially proud of the community we've built. Whether you're a seasoned appraiser or brand new to real estate appraisal, we're all about helping each other grow and succeed in this field.
So, if you're passionate about all things real estate and looking for a tight-knit community to call home, I'd love for you to join us on Discord. Let's swap stories, share insights, and support each other as we continue to grow in this ever-evolving field. Come on over using the following link: (https://discord.gg/bPtWNNPyRH)
Can't wait to meet you!

Good sleuthing. "If it smells like s***, and it sticks to the bottom of your boot like s*** - its S***!"

Discord, Teams, What's App, they are all the same with different skins. Chat rooms, file sharing, voice chat.

Discord is good for gaming, Teams is good for corporate, and What's App is good for small groups.

Well what I like about discord is that it is significantly easier to find achieved messages, have much more organized conversations and documents, a much more modern ui, and many different technology integrations that allow for news updates. Not to mention voice chat, video chat, event hosting, etc

You forgot security flaws. I used it early on for other tech stuff and found sketchy at best. Mobile app is even worse.

Every time I see somebody come to the forum to promote another site, I think of roofing companies banging on our doors after every big storm offering "free" roof inspections. Aren't all roof inspections free? They are not there to inspect your roof, they are there to sell a roof.

Aren't all roof inspections free?
Side story. Our church roof was damaged when a tornado skirted nearby. The following day, some guy got on the roof and covered the missing shingles with a temporary patch... left a biz card in the door. So, we let him bid, and got another bid from a separate fellow. The new bidder was $800 cheaper. So, we went with him. Guess who did the roofing? Bidder #1 subbed out to Bidder #2...and I had to wonder if they were working in tandem to win bids...they weren't saying.
