A friend took his appraiser trainee course in Jan 2005 in Florida. How long does he have to become licensed in Florida, and how does the new USPAP education requirements affect him? Does he just have to take the difference in hours, or does he have to take the complete course again? Thank you.

Florida no longer issues the catagory of "licensed appraiser". Your friend must therefore fullfill the requirements for either a Certifed Residential or Certified General license.

I think that your friend has the opportunity to take all courses from the beginning. The new criterae require that all pre-license courses comply with the rules that did not exist back then.

The experience will be good.

I'm sorry, I guess I didnt state that he never worked as an appraiser. He took his appraiser trainee course, passed the end of course exam, but never applied to the state for his registered assistant license. Now he would like to proceed, and he is not sure if he will need to take the course again, since they now require more hours of pre-licensing education than they did back in 2005.

Dianna,

If he never became a Registered Trainee he must start from scratch. This would mean that he must take the 100 hours to become a trainee and then go from there.

JUst wondering?

Wht is your friend not asking his/her own questions?
