Do you foresee the bachelor degree requirement ever going away

Well, then it should be relatively easy to enter the industry. Have them take the PAREA course, pay 8K, pass the test, and start churning them out. :giggle:
Isn't that how your shop did it ?

I absolutely loathe this term when used to reference appraisers. Makes me boil.
Well, that's what banks call it... you are on a vendor list. We are rarely considered to be "professionals"...

Vendor-- Team Member-- are often used by AMCs as a way to demean you and make you realize that your an order taker and trades person not a professional.

The appraisal organizations also used to treat residential members like vendors.

Unless you were completing summary non form reports, you were not considered to be a real appraiser.

When I was young I was joining a large organization and I was basically told that doing lender assignments was not what real course taking members did for a living. Frankly at that time they didn't need residential members and it wasn't a priority for them to recruit and retain us.

The day we'll remember when appraisers became vendors is when ANSI was forced upon us. It was the final nail.
The days when appraisers could appraise with common sense were over.

Didn't you say in your slave appraisal shop you hired low IQ trainees? :)
Nope most were guys who had been electronic techs, laid off during nineties down sizing at General Dynamics and some X veterans and a few who had been elementary school teacher's. Most were sharp guys some had AA degrees or military or high school and some college coursework.

Some of our Realtors over the years were a little short on the IQ level but some of the dumbest are the nicest people who are good in sales. Women are the best and almost always did better than men.

That is an interesting line, short on IQ, great at sales - what's that say about those who get Sold :ROFLMAO:

A vendor is a seller of a good, service, or real property . A vendor can also refer to a seller in any other transaction . For example, in a transaction in which company A is purchasing company B’s products, then company B is the vendor. The opposite party in a transaction is a vendee

Then it would be fair to change the AMC's Title to Vendor Management Company. The reason I say that is because AMC's also manage other Vendors like attorneys, Surveyors, etc

I would get the SRA if I had a favorable opinion of the organization. But I don't. I've completed all of the requirements except the exam.
In the conventional residential world, it will be of little benefit.

I have been assigning appraisals for nearly 18 years for a well-respected regional lender.

Guess how many times I have asked if the Appraiser was a SRA?

We have never had a repurchase demand over appraisal issues.

Go figure......
