It was destroyed a while back ago. I'm a Trainee so one day I may be able to make a difference and help the profession become something cool and decent. Yeah, it's been destroyed and it needs a huge make over to bring back a healthy breathe of life. The only transition I see is a transition to further the cause of crooks, dirty politicians, skippy and Appraiser Skippy Appeasers; the new bill that was passed was a bail out, slap on the hand, and a big hug/kiss with a pat on the @$$!

Is it dead? Not completely, because there is some decent life left over from the destruction. This new bill slapped this life right in the face and the government/banks know it, especially Fannie Mae, Mortgage Brokers, skippy and Appraiser Skippy Appeasers.

I stand by my earlier post. I do not believe that our profession has been "destroyed". I believe that the majority of appraisers are hardworking, ethical people and a few "bad apples" have ruined the reputation of our profession as a whole. The working public has lost faith in our profession; however, with time and effort we may be able to re-establish ourselves in the eyes of the public.

I do believe that the new bill is a bail out for many who should be put under the jail for the fraud that he/she has committed; however, what is done is done. The question to be asked at this point is: How can our profession, as a whole, learn to communicate among ourselves, without bashing each other to pieces and pointing fingers? Networking is the key, standing up to lender pressure, and standing together is the way to jump start the tide of change.

As stated earlier, I believe that the majority of appraisers are hardworking, ethical people. The appraisal profession does need a "makeover".....who do you want to be in control of the makeover.....fellow appraisers or the lenders (who have had control for a long time)?

Not destroyed, severly damaged. As there are those that still want the truth, in lending Not many but some. & there are other's that have to have, truthful reports outside the mortgage field.

All I want to see is more of us trying to get the word out that there is concern about this profession in our own ranks. Saying that we had NO part in the mess, just enforces the fact that we are still a large portion of the problem. We need to face it. We had a hand in creating this mess.

(a small hand, but still a hand)

Wait till you see how much we're blamed by FDIC

NOW what needs to happen is we need to get to the forfront of the battle & collectively offer some solutions. Trainees to the ancient. We ALL have a responsibility to the profession to try anything that will help on it's improvement & get it back to rhe crediabilty factor it once had.

For the few, go ahead & tear this posting apart for speeling, Spelled for affect & grammar:

Hopefully the rest of us will take into considersation that we need to get our concerns & suggestions to those that can actually make a difference. YES!! it is to late to fix the mess we helped make, BUT NOW!! we actually have some in power listening lets take advantage of it. Maybe we can prevent it from happening again for at least 10 or more years. Maybe we can be the ones thast prevent FHA from making more mistakes than what they're going to be doing soon. IF someone doesn't assist in showing the pitfalls of these severly flawed new rules.

Gotta get the public involved. We have some just plain ordinary individuals here in AZ that a year ago had no idea that an Appraiser could put them into such a mess as they are now in. YES!!! No body but the Apprasiseer is to blame for the mess they are in. These individuals have done more than I or any other Apprasiser has done that I know of (How's that Timid?) at trying to clean up the profession. They now have some very influencial pepole looking at the Appraiser problem here in AZ.

Get the Public to join in!!!. Get to the Public; before those that had a bigger hand get them convinced that we are the bigger hand in this.

For those that don't care, think nothing can be accomplished, or think nothing will happen to Apprasisers, don't bother responding!!

I believe that we are better at policing our ourselves than anyone else. The appraisal commission here in Tennessee is down to one person running the office. How is the state to investigate complaints with only one person running the office?

We can start by associating with an appraisal organization, networking, reporting fraudulent appraisals, not "rubber stamping" field reviews, and taking a stronger stand in politics.

There is not an easy answer; however, taking responsibility is a start. I am not into the "militia" approach, but I do believe that we as a profession must take a stand.

edited for spelling.
