Does FHA require heating in South Florida

regular AC has it does not have to be a heat pump
Wrong- its just common in Florida so you dont know the difference. A Regular AC has a Separate Heating Unit-Furnace: Below is what a Combo AC/Heat ( Heat Pump ) is.

A heat pump can heat and cool ) but a regular air conditioner cannot heat. which is the primary difference between the two HVAC systems. An air conditioner is typically paired with a furnace to provide heat during the cold months.

There is no furnace for heat, the AC does it in a reverse cycle just set the thermostat.

I live in FL and appraise here, I don't see furnaces in the houses, and there is very little gas heat as well, the typical heat source is the thermostat switch to heat on the AC

Yes I understand that if its a dual heat pump system. A regular CA unit like most out here only do cold air a a separate furnace is also a separate unit .

It is not a heat pump which is its own product. It is AC with a thermostat setting for heat . We don't have furnaces here. at least I have not seen one., We used to have a furnace up north where I grew up. The AC set to heat thermostat only gets used typically a few weeks a year here so it is sufficient, does a reasonable job of heating the rooms same ducts

Never mind you dont understand the difference between the two systems both use one thermostat but both generate heat by different methods. This is now becoming a Price V Value Issue- Next time you talk to a HVAC Guy ask him to explain. :) LOL

A heat pump is its own product and is not the same thing as an AC/HVAC system. Heat pumps are relatively new as being accepted and not used much at least around here.

The common way to heat a home in my area of S FL is with the AC unit thermostat set on heat ( whatever degree you choose, 80 or whatever

You live in California and are telling me I do not understand what is used in the area I live and appraise. I think in 30 years one of my clients would have caught the mistake (sarcasm ) Your arrogance is amazing to behold! thanks for the entertainment value

This conversation is over you are in a Price V Value mode :)

Do all central AC have heat?

Heat Pumps vs Air Conditioning | Compare Heat Pump vs AC

Air conditioners do not provide heating, but heat pumps do. Thanks to a reversing valve in the outdoor unit, a heat pump system works by extracting heat energy from outside air, even in extremely cold temperatures, transferring the heat inside the home, where it releases the heat into the air.

Can AC work as heater in winter?

Your AC can heat the room in winter only if it has a reverse cycle function or a heat pump. This allows it to switch from cooling to heating mode and transfer heat from outside to inside. A cooling-only AC cannot heat the room in winter
