Double the Property Tax?

Sorry to hear that. Move to CA. CA has Prop 13 which has maximum increase of 2% a year.

That reminds me, I better pay my property tax coming due.
For one of my commercial properties, the assessed value went down!
Rarely do I remember paying less tax than year before.

Where in California can you buy a house for $250k. Let alone the much higher cost of living
Maybe a condo where Charles lives. Out in the boonies in CA, homes are cheaper.

If property tax assessments floated per market prices in Calif it would likely inhibit big price increases.

I'm paying another property tax but is a condo in same county.
About the same as last year. That means county finds condo prices same as last year. Ugh.
I'm looking at my other residential properties in another county and assessed value about the same. Rarely does this happen. Ugh.

I'm surprise one of my commercials in SF had an increase in property tax.
I'll let it go this year but next year I might appeal if it increases again.

Ron DeSantis rips property taxes as 'rent to the government' and warns US homeowners are being treated like ATMs. Do you feel the same?

"[People] have their homes paid off and they bought it 30 years ago for a certain amount. Now they're being told it's worth so much more and they have to pony up more and more money,” DeSantis said in a video posted to X (1).

“It's almost like they have to pay rent to the government, just to be able to enjoy their property. That's wrong. We need to do something about it.”

For many Floridians, that “pony up more and more money” line hits close to home. According to a Redfin report, the Sunshine State is home to three of the five major U.S. metros where property tax bills have increased the most since 2019 (2). In Jacksonville, the median monthly property tax rose 59.6% to $228 between 2019 and 2024. Tampa’s increased 56.7% to $250, while Miami’s climbed 48.1% to $367.

MOVE TO CALIFORNIA WITH PROPERTY TAXES LIMITED BY PROPOSITION 13.
