Drones For Appraisals?

It is the way of the future. Photographs and measuring by drone will grab some business away from Realtors and appraisers.

They don't allow us to hire a runner or assistant to take photos, we have to personally take the comp photos per cert so why would they allow us to use a drone?

If we are allowed, I'll get a drone too let it loose to photo

Satellite and aerial photos are used all the time now.

sure they are. But we still have to certify we took original comp photos on lender res reports as a requirement in many cases.

What they want is current photos and current measurements. You flying the drone is no different than you driving your car to take the picture. The bonus is you get the measurements too.

When you drive yourcar, you are physically there on the street observing the house. A drone is flown by remote control so I doubt the lenders would allow it as a substitute but you never know! Maybe...

Just thinking ... the military use to have aircraft flown with people in them to drop bombs. Drones have cameras that a remote operator can do a more effective job dropping bombs on target.

FHA wants to see all sides of the subject home and roof of the subject home. The point is, you are the drone taking the picture but you are not a reliable trustworthy drone. How do they know? They look at satellite and Realtor photos to judge the credibility of your work. :)

Expectation of privacy ... cameras at every stoplight, bank ATM, store parking lot, inside stores, satellites, Google, police using drones to patrol a neighborhood, etc. ... Then you have appraisers cruising the neighborhood in their cars taking pictures of people's houses.

At what point will drones for commercial use become acceptable? Certainly Google will be adopting drones to replace their camera cars. Realtors are actively pursuing drones to use in their work.
