Is there someone you can call who will come out and check to see if a house was used for drugs. The potential buyer said the attic was rigged with strange looking wiring, and maybe thought it was used to ventalate drug product out through the attic.... is there a chemist or someone who can test the air or debri to see if there are drug particles? i checked the meth website for home seizures, but apparently was never seized, they just left some shady attic stuff behind. Im in San Diego, CA by the way. thanks.

no, i have not inspected it yet, i guess he was thinking about buying the home and saw all this and wanted to know if it was drug related..... the mortgage broker called me and relayed me the info. but other than that i couldnt tell you.

I wouldn't do my own termite inspection. I wouldn't do my own drug inspection. I suggest that if you feel it is an issue to red flag it with a "recommend an environmental inspection..blah blah blah"

Home buyers sometimes get goofy ideas in their heads.

While probably not a "drug person", a competent home inspector should be able to determine if wiring is unusual or not.

There are lots of unusual wiring conditions that don't involve drug dealing. It may have been done by a HAM radio operator or it could be left from a large satellite dish. My parent's house in California has 300 ohm television wire all over the attic, it is useless now but is not a hazard. A home inspector can tell if it is a hazard.

You might let your fingers do the walking first.

I had a subject that was reported to me as a former pot growing operation. I called the sheriff's department, explained what I was doing. They ran the house number and said it did not come up in their data base as a crime scene or scene of a drug related call.

Pot growing will not negatively affect the property. Unless they are using some sort of crazy fertilizer.
