Anybody currently using this new building cost data service?

Claims to have been started by a group of appraisers dissatisfied with other cost data providers, and that its service works nationwide. Rec'd a broadcast e-mail about it on June 23.

Cost is $8.00 per month, or $75/yr if 12 months of service bought up front.

Don't know how DwellingCost.com compares with BuildingCost.net, the FREE on-line cost calculator.......which is backed by Craftsman Press.....and seems to be adequate for most of my needs.

No info on their web site as to where they are located.

Haven't tried it, but I will. I've run Building-Cost.Net against swiftestimator and essentially ended up with the same number.

I use Homewyse all the time for cost to cure.

for costs to cure before.

Building-cost.net is useful for cost approach, or extracting site value, have not tried dwellingcost.

Yeah, I use Buidling-cost.net too. I also want to evaluate dwellingcost.com and come against M & S.

Denis D and I ran building-cost next to a commercial (residential) cost source he has and the difference was meaningless.

Your post is the first I've heard of it. As others have said its hard to beat building-cost.net.

This one will give you cost figures for duplex, mfh, barns and some commercial stuff. I think the coupon code is "appraiser" and you get around 10 bucks off.

Some folks on another forum I read have said they use this 'new' service and claim it's easier than BC-net.

But like my buddy Randolph mentioned, I'd like to see an actual PDF of one of their reports.

I put the BC-net print-out (as a PDF) into my reports, and would want to do the same with DwellingCost.com.

The M&S 1007 form is way too time consuming and complicated, even when using Swift Estimator.....it ain't "swift!"
