Hi everyone,

I am still very new to the profession, and need some advice? I was not sure where to post this, so I chose here.

Ok, I just started working as a trainee a month ago. The office I work for asked me to get an electronic Signature. We use the Wintotal program. I called the folks at Wintotal, who try to sell me my own license, sub licenses are no longer sold, at the cost of about a grand. I dont have a PC at home that could even handle the program, and I am unsure whether I will be a long term Appraiser yet, although I have enjoyed it thus far. For now, I simply want to use the office PC at night after everyone leaves. Where can I get an electronic signature? I gave looked at Verisign online, and it all reads like Greek to me.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you know someone with a scanner, you just sign a blank piece of paper, scan it in and save the file. Than when it asks for your signature file you point to this file. There are also free programs out there that take these files and convert them to a sig file.

don't Pay Alamode anything. The licence is for the computer no matter how many people use it. They will rip you off if they can.

In your own computer they will sometimes offer you a discount. But there are ways around that too/

Allen,

Alamode offers 'sub' licensed copies under a 'main' license for a discounted price. It's their software and it's their right to charge for everyone using it. It is illegal to use it otherwise.

Pam, you may be right, but the licence that is issued is for the company name not the user. Like Microsoft or all other software vendors the licence is for one workstation and all who use it are welcome. I did purchase my own sub licence only because i work from home and not from the office or I would not have purchased it.
If you check their website or their agreement i don't think it mentions that every user on the same computer needs a different licence.
Just my opinion.

Allen...you are getting off on the wrong foot with Alamode. They don't don't rip anyone off! The license agreement is for a single computer but they allow multiple users on a network.

The program has a tutorial that explains how to add your electronic signature. A scanner is necessary but if you don't have access to one you can go to nearly any copy store and have a signature scanned to disk. I recommend you keep it in your disk files because you might need to load it again sometime. It works faster if the signature is kept within the program, ie, in the images folder.

Mike, Please read the original post. Alamode is trying to get her to pay, even though it's on the same computer.....
I had the same problem in the beginning, i was told that I would have to pay for a complete licence, Than one month later I was able to pay for a sub licence. Its whatever they can get,
Oh by the way I was charged not only for the licence but charged an extra $291.00 for something no one knew about. I might think it was a mistake but the amount does not coiinside with anything.
This has since been challenged and kicked back to them. I speak from experience. They got off on the wrong foot. I never speak for the heck of it Mike, mostly only from experience I have learned.

Everyone, I am not trying, nor do I want to get into a Pi**ing match with anyone. I value your opinions, but all i will say is to keep trying, Don't give up and stay alert. Try-Try-Try. For some of the newbees have not the life experience nor the street smarts to understand that there are some people out there that will take advantage of you. Stay alert, Ask questions and take all answers with a grain of salt.
