All of the sudden it stopped clearly printing black so it's useless. I've tried every print cleaning utility nothing works. Nothing online either so I stripped it down, Macgyvered a cleaning solution with a syringe and tubing etc to force out the apparent clogged holes in the print head but that didn't seem to work. Anyone else have any tips to get this thing cleaned before I scrap it?

got it cleaned up and put back together now it wont turn on :cryingsmiley:

it only has 2 connections and 2 ribbon cables so frustrating. I've tried everything probably going to have to call someone

Bring it up to the farm and we can use it for target practice.

So.... how long has this been in service now?

If you've gotten more than 5 years out of it, it's pretty much done.

I have an old HP monochrome LaserJet. When you open it up, it has metal on the inside, it works great. That is, if you use a Windows 7 or older computer. They didn't update the drivers for Windows 10 and 11 (which I despise).

As the old adage goes, they don't make things like they used to.

Going on OfferUp, search 5 Mi out, and look for a similar, newer model that someone's not using. You'll save Bookoo Dinero.

5 years I've put thousands of pages through that thing. I called a mobile guy who said a service call starts a $300 gtfo I'll find a place to take it to. Never used offerup I'll check it out

If you are scanning and faxing (who does that anymore) or printing color, you need to reassess your printing needs. Scan with your phone and fax with an online service.

Honestly, you can be 100% digital and comply with USPAP, but old school me likes printing the order and tax card and having a paper file. I have digital copies of everything, including order/tax card/deed/etc, and back it up on a generous thumb drive secured in my safe.

As for a printer, look for a black and white toner printer and use OEM replacement components. I can go a year with one toner (80-100 files) and two years on a drum. I've had my HP 2270dw for at least a decade and it works flawlessly. With W11 coming up next year, I may have to shop for a comparable toner printer, but that is another day. Print black and white, double side, dial in your settings and slowly convert to digital.

A drum & fuser? , is about 1/3 the cost of a new unit. I like my Brother mfc with 2 drawers less than $750 new.
