Can you suggest good materials to review (book, online etc) to use for California State Exam Prep to upgrade from AL to AR.

Thanks

I recommend you get the AI test review course.
I think there are 1,100 questions. You can do it on-line, and it is good for a year.
I used that to pass my upgrade test from AR to AG.

Good luck!

I used the compucram thing.

I'd spend 1 night sitting in front of the TV taking practice tests. Then the next night I'd look at the subject matter where I missed questions. Repeat till you're not missing a significant number of question.

Doesn't Harrison put out a Q&A test book? Make sure you go over the math section. Especially the standard deviation section. I upgraded back in 2005 from licensed to certified. I felt good about everything but wanted to study a little bit. So, I decided to read up on the math section and, sure enough, There were a lot of math questions on my test.

Hondros has a good book out on "Appraisal review crammer"
Toss's book is good also.

USPAP

I just took the certified exam two months ago and passed the first time. I used the old "1001 q & a" by Henry Harrison that I bought for my trainee exam in 2006..worked great. Id recommend the latest version for the USPAP questions. I also signed up for compucram.com and reviewed all my old Appraisal Institute course workbooks. The test was pretty easy after reviewing all those. GOOD LUCK!

I just signed up to take my upgrade exam as well (licensed to certified)... I've purchased the practice exam question testing through AI and also purchased the Student Handbook (14th edition) to prepare. In all honesty, a lot of the practice questions don't seem to be too tough and I've done pretty well without reviewing any content yet. I'm hoping its not a fluke! Does anyone know how much math or statistical questions are on the AR exam? I'm pretty concerned because statistics, income caps, etc aren't my strong point. I'm scheduled to take it next week, it's coming up quickly!

Just took the exam and it only had 3 USPAP questions of which none addressed the new changes. 60% of exam was about the 3 approaches to value. 10% site description. Brutal 35 sentence and numbers questions that make your mind go numb! Know how to do cost approach fast. Not enough time to finish exam. Sales comparison problems with out a grid, argh! Guy next to me threw up his arms in explanation because he didn't have enough time to finish and stormed out of the room. None of the content percentages are correct. Answer word problems first with the multiple choice answers first, then concentrate on the math problems for the sake of time. Be prepared not to know your own home address when you're done! Brutal....

Yes the test stressed me out taking it. It took me all day to complete with lots of studying.
