Do you know if California allows appraisers to go into "retired" status, where you would pay a small fee every year but not be raped every two years for a grand or more?

(Every single state bar allows that for their lawyers, for example) ....
No they do not-Their goal is to generate as much revenue as possible because at the rate they are losing appraisers to age and burnout in my opinion that division will most likley end up be transferred over to the Bureau Of Real Estate which was formerly the department of Real Estate who licenses agents and brokers. That was proposed before but like all bureaucracies they want to ride it out for as long as they can.

My Appraisal Renewal for 2 years was just over $1,000 bucks. My Brokers License Renewal last year was like $400.00 for 4 years and continuation hours are given free to Realtors and Non-Realtors can pay less than $150.00 for 45 hours. Also at 70 Years old the State BRE does not require any more continuing education for Brokers or agents.

That's what I suspected ... well, I've got just under 2 years to decide whether to ever renew again or just let it lapse ... ;)
