Farms may become the new green energy plants.

Lackey LOL. How many acres would be dedicated to just fuel demand for the US alone? If you are suggesting that we switch...at this point it is ridiculously impractical. Easier to go solar. There's a billion neat chemistry things that have no practical application at scale. The WW2 era Germans used an artificial method only because they failed their North Africa campaign and had no other choice. South America has had some success with sugar cane but we can't grow that here.

If I had the luxury of a homestead-type property with lots of land, I would totally consider this. Like most others, I don't.

My grandfather displaying a carbon sink his company had felled:

He was the actual inventor of the first transaxle used in logging trucks (his mechanic stole the patent idea, became rich, lost it all, and ended up a skid row alcoholic).

Green hydrogen is truly green but most hydrogen is produced by breaking down natural gas. Why not just use the Nat gas as fuel and eliminate the process that has a byproduct anyway.

I suppose they need to find an alternate use for the excess, gov't subsidized over-production of both corn and beans now that China has drastically cut the amount they buy from the US.

Big farmers complain that they lose money on every bushel. If that's so, where do they get the money to buy land at $12,000+ per acre or the $Million tractors and combines? A good bet is that the $$ are coming from the taxpayers, especially when the gov't mandates at least 5 BILLION bushels of corn gets sent to ethanol refineries where production is approximately break-even for the energy produced in ethanol. Turning food into fuel to subsidize the greed of Ag industry. Farmers continue to over-produce and the gov't continues to increase the ethanol mandate. What a racket. Bernie Madoff should have gotten into this scheme.

Don't forget the most important US corn farm input: Russian and Belorussian fertilizers.

The entire idea of farms being energy producers is ludicrous and not mathematically possible...
