Does anyone know of a fax machine that you can buy that can be connected to your computer to view faxes before you print them? I know Cannon has one that uses their Desk Top Manager. Are there any other ones out there.?

Brother .. though the early ones will not work with WinDoze 2000 .. also works as a sheet scanner ..

Cliff, I've got an HP that does what you want, a cheaper alternative may be to buy the cheapest fax you see, and use it to send only by setting it to do not answer, then use WionFax on your computer to recieve faxes and send most everything else.

Let me know if you need help/more details with this setup.

Salisbury, why not just use your computer to send and recieve? why tie up desk space?

I second that. Just install a second modem (doent have to be fast) and download some answering machine/FAX software. If you have a scanner too then your all set.

Modem and software are probably less than the FAX machine.

Thanks for your ideas. I did not want to use the computer since it means you have to leave it on 24/7.
I purchased, on e-bay, a Cannon C755. This is one of the 4 in 1 machines and has color, which I did not realy need. I have used Cannon before. The nice thing about it is that it hooks up to the computer. With the software you can set it to receive in the memory of the fax. When you turn on your computer the faxes will upload to the computer and than you can view them before you print them. This is great for all of the SPAM faxes that I seem to be receiving.
I paid only $120.00 for the unit. Thanks again for all your help.

 WinFax is your best bet, works on your PC

Check out efax.com.

It costs me $10 a month, and I have a private fax phone with that. efax then converts all incoming faxes to emails and sends them on to my email. I can view all faxes before printing, I can save them to the hard drive, I can insert a fax into a report as a digital product, no out of paper condition, no jammed paper situations...and you delete the garbage faxes. Got rid of our 2nd phone line that was for nothing but the fax machine.

Now our fax is plugged into the regular phone line...but is only powered up when we want to send out a fax.

There are also a couple of other companies doing about the same thing as efax.

How do you recieve the data.
PDF.?
Do you have to download the emails and save to disk each time?

Thanks

Bemis,

As I recall, most of these services attach a jpg file to your e-mail .. view it, or save it separately. I've used one of Toolbox's map pages to include the order in each appraisal file ..
