anyone want to put their .02 in on their favorite efax service and why they like it. there are so many and i have no idea which to choose. some are free, some assign you a # etc. i'd like to receive all faxes via e-mail from now on so i'm shopping for the best and most flexible service out there.

Ryan, do a search for Efax... you should find several recent strings with alternative suggestions for you to pick through.
I use J-Fax, and have for 5+- years. I recently dumped my pay for service for the freebie since my new home phone service has unlimited long distance, and will forward fax calls to any number.

Going on 5 years no problem.

I use www.packetel.com. $4 a month unlimited faxes over the computer to my email. It comes to me as a tiff file. It is easy to look at and print if necessary. I have been with the service 4 years and no problems.:new_2gunsfiring_v1:

I use a phone/fax answering system on my secondary computer. Incoming faxes and phone messages are saved to a digital file. Any faxes or phone messages related to an assignment can be easily saved in the assignment's workfile (ie folder) and archived in the client's file.

there are several brands available, i use a HotFax for many years, currently running a version several years old. the one time cost was minimal.

bueno suerto.

I have used maxemail.com for several years and it works great.

Fee is $8.95/monthly, $19.95/quarterly or $69.00/annually.

Alright, I have a rookie question. I've been using the typical fax machine for four years. I have a fax phone number on all my stationary and business cards. What would happen if I switched to one of the efax company's. Would I have to get a new phone number and change all my business cards and stationary?
Thanks

Bobby when I switched to efax I had those same concerns before the change and more importantly all your clients will have your old fax # in their data base. They need to be gradually updated. What I did was keep my old fax number for about a year until they updated to my efax fax number. In the long run efax has been well worth it in savings, time and convenience. One thing to make certain of is that you can get an efax number in your area code, they’re in most areas. Another option is a toll free efax account, however, they do charge about a dime per page over the base amount. IMO Efax has been as big a time and money saver as emailing reports via PDF. No wasted paper or ink on junk faxes, I’ve never had a lost fax or had to ask someone to refax one that I lost, you don’t even have to print faxes, you can convert them to PDF and save them. I’m able to save surveys, plans & specs and paste them into reports, etc. You can also retrieve faxes while on vacation or out of town via internet. I’ll never go back to a dedicated fax line.

I use maxemail. You can have the fax sent to you in pdf format, which makes saving it to your workfile just a matter of moving it.

Some cell/pda's can use a mobile pdf reader. Using it, you can read your faxes when you pull your email while away from your PC.
