It is only a law if we follow it.

Do you think Trump is going to let that socialist authority happen. That is why there are trying to move now. Time is near.

True enough. And I'll give Joan credit again, that's (basically) one of the points she made.

Here's a little dose of reality: Congress and President Obama didn't give a hoot about appraisers during the Dodd-Frank process, and President Elect Trump isn't going to push national policy for appraisers either. I know appraisers hate to admit it but we aren't important enough and we have no unified voice.

But good luck with your hope and change, it's not like we haven't been through this before.

but we aren't important enough

For a group of so unimportant people there sure seems to be a lot of agendas trying to control us.

For example , if i did one appraisal a day at 100,000, that is 500,000 per week, 2 million per month, 24 million per year. And how big is that secondary market now?

Joan is on now advocating for a federal take over and federal licensing if anyone is interested.
and for FIRREA to go away. Its proven to be worthless. Did ya miss that little comment?

Nevertheless, it was interesting listening to all the back handed insults veiled as care and concern for the common good of all - as the dogs in the fight vied for position all the while claiming their only true agenda was that truth, justice and the American way prevail.

Of course, naturally, solely altruistic and for the benefit of the public.

With so much concern for the public, not one mention of the lower and middle income homeowner and the de minimis. I find that ironic.

Very interesting exchanges between the reps of the AF and the AI, which were mostly indirect. Still bad blood there that is not helping the profession or the public. The AI didn't make any friends with the ASC or the AF. Phil Crawford or Mike Ford should have been there. JT had her moments.

The little lady lawyer witness (I don't know her name), who was representing some public oriented group, missed some golden opportunities that somebody like Phil Crawford could have really helped her with.

Nobody really stressed the problem with commingled fees or the more vulnerable upper lower and and middle income public. JT tried. JT was more public focused than some others. She needed help too from somebody like Phil Crawford or Mike Ford.

The govt subcommittee could be considering restructuring some things. But several witnesses there are not wanting that restructuring solely for the public. They are wanting it for personal gain and gain for who they represent. Not all but some.

Who chose and put that group of witnesses together? Who requested the hearing? That may have been told. I missed the beginning of the hearing.

Another thought just came to mind. Some AMCs are probably worried about State Government oversight for more than one reason. State Antitrust legislation being one reasom along with C&R being another. A state attorney general could bring them to their knees. Remember they are to answer to states presently.

If the fed takes oversight of appraisers then they would also take oversight of AMCs.

No. What I give Joan credit for is calling the mess we have a mess. Her motives are different than mine, but I won't deny she's a sharp person who knows and has worked the system.

Oh yeah. Ed Brady, Chairman of the Board, National Association of Home Builders has zero love for appraisers.

You been giving Joan a lot credit lately. What's up with that?
Denying good points when they are made doesn't help boots on the ground appraisers. Her ultimate goals don't align with small business owners or boots on the ground appraisers but she's in the game, ignoring or constantly criticizing her is a poor game plan.
