Fee structure for tax appeals

I getcha--because I have a sense of vision? Seriously Mr. stick-in-the-mud, equity should go both ways. Municipalities are struggling for revenue and oftentimes have no sense of how many tax dollars are left on the table because of low assessments.

The person who taught my basic appraisal classes spent a few terms as a county assessor. She found so many properties that either weren't assessed or were under assessed that it lowered the overall tax rate a fair amount because the tax base was so much larger. She even had some people come in and demand that their assessment be raised because their house was worth much more than that. I wonder if those same people filed a tax appeal the next year when they realized the mistake they had made.
