Fees and who gets to quote them

While I realize that some reports are more time consuming and a (very) few are cookie cutters, I have learned the hard way to look up what they want appraised before quoting a fee. At the very least, I quote my usual fee and state that some circumstances will raise the fee, depending on the time involved and the scope of work.

The only time I quote a real high fee is if I don't really want the job. I suspect that's what most of us do!
