What if the fire is inside the porch? In your scenario a window or door to a garage with 2 garage doors is acceptable. I think not.

If fire is inside the porch the person can exit from bedroom door. If fire is inside the porch it would same as if the fire was in the rear part of the bedroom with fire blocking the window. not same as a window or door to a garage but jmo on the placement of this room in photo.

Why would it matter what the room is labeled?
remove the sliding glass doors and it is one big room.
What fanciful machinations we do to turn a pig's ear into a silk purse.

The room is used as a bedroom. Labeling it as something else is a lie. Removing the door, only to have the owner put it right back after the appraiser leaves is another defalcation intended to obtain financing.

As for the OP. The individual appraiser will either comply with the FHA rules or they will ignore same. I cannot say which. No one here knows if they are strictly by the rules or a lapdog for a lender. Just going to be an unpredictable future event.

Why would I care how a homeowner employs a room?

The whole concept of having 2 egress routes is so you have 2 DIRECT egress routes.
