I have client that has provided a case number that is longer than the standard case number of zzz-XXXXXXX. The client is requesting that the case number include zzz-XXXXXXX-703-2. I have seen in the handbooks where the it is a requirement that the 10 digit number only be reported in the appraisal report on each of the pages of the report. This is common for clients to provide a number that is longer than 10 digits but I have never been asked to include the longer number as the actual case number, where should I direct this client to for review of HUD requirements regarding case numbers. I didn't even think that FHA connection would assign a case number longer than 10 digits and I didn't think an appraisal with a case number longer than 10 digits would be accepted by the system.

What's going to happen to you if you include all of the numbers?

...and I didn't think an appraisal with a case number longer than 10 digits would be accepted by the system.

There's your test. Plug in the longer number and see if you get a UAD hard stop.

Those are the Automated Data Processing (ADP) codes used for Direct Endorsement. They are not necessary for the appraisal.

I had the same stip and presented it here on the forum;

I called the HOC and they said that it is NOT required....HOWEVER, if that client wants you to put it on, it might not be a bad idea if you want to continue to work with them.

I wrote to the client and said:

I contacted FHA about this and they confirmed that adding the ADP code is not required by FHA. When the case number is ordered, the ADP code is not attached to the case number. It has nothing to do with the way you proces your report or how it is submitted. ADP codes are strictly for insuring purposes and is required to be entered in the paper work for insuring documents only. The appraisal is not to be used for insurance purposes. The ADP code added to the report actually makes it more confusing for FHA.

Please contact me so that we can clear this matter.

LENDER'S RESPONSE:
After review, it was determined that the ADP codes are not necessary to be added to the FHA case number. Please disregard request to add the ADP codes. Thank you

So...copy and paste my letter and send it off to your client and see what they say. Mine wasn't UAD, so include that it will probably not pass UAD which may hold up your closing.

Good info RESGUY. Thanks

Emily Litella moment.........

Yeah I made the change, what's the point. I sent a version of the note that RESGUY posted but made the change anyway, I have better things to do then fight a fight where I don't even get to actually physically punish some fool!!!!

The 703 is the FHA program code. Like 203k. I have no problem using it when they provide it. The first 10 digits are the ones that are important.
