Case Number

:)Pam:
I just started doing FHA appraisals after several years. I can’t find this in my FHA manual, so any help would be appreciated. The lender wants me to inspect and start the appraisal process prior to receiving the case number. I thought I read you must not start the appraisal or inspect the property until after you received the case number…
Thanks,
Gwen C. / Indiana

Thanks,
Gwen

This is a trick to cheat you out of your fee. It is also a trick to hide from you that another appraiser may have already appraised it and those results killed the loan. So they moved on to Skippy, or who they think is a skippy, namely you. If they can get you to appraise the subject and it is too low or there are repairs they will just move on to a real skippy!

So the good news is they will remove you from there list because your not skippy!

Thank you sooso much, I'm not a Skippy, I thought that might be the case...

Gwen......

Good stuff. Thanks for the post

Here is another PDF version of Appendix D: Valuation Protocol 4150.2
it goes line by line with detailed instructions on to fill out the 1004 form. It even has some quick tips.

And just in case you ever get asked to do one of the below:

Streamlined 203(k)
Limited Repair Program

Mortgage Letter (a must read)

203(k) Rehab Program

Q and A on 203(k)

Thanks for the info. But as she stated before she is unable to find the information in her handbook. Can you answer that portion of the question please?
