This is on the mortgagee, not the appraiser.

(4) Form HUD-92564-CN, For Your Protection: Get a Home Inspection

Mortgagees are required to provide form HUD-92564-CN, For Your Protection: Get a Home Inspection, to prospective homebuyers at first contact, be it for pre-qualification, pre-approval, or initial application.

CAn, if you get a bunch more work at really good fees let me know. It may add years to my life knowing it and not speculating. :)

Conversation from another appraiser group:

They want more photos in the report! The new handbook says photos of comps from the front and "Photographs taken at an angle to depict both the front and the side when possible" So now we are going to have 3 photos for each comp.

when I took the new CE class for the 4000.1 they said they are asking for 3 pics when possible.

Me:

Get your money back from the CE provider Matthew. You MUST get the front view. If possible get the front and a side.

How many Stips do you think are going to come back from (pick an AMC!) their "review" depts. asking "comp pics MUST show front AND side. we will not accept the report. go back out. no additional fee" I can see it now

Take the pictures at an angle now that you know the requirement. If it wasn't possible for some reason say why.

I understand, but to be honest...it sucks! It's just ANOTHER thing to remember/change when doing FHA. I'm not scared of it or anything, but I'm not afraid of saying I don't like it! (n)

I was mentored and still attempt to take comps photos at an angle. Often that is not possible so I guess we will need to add an additional boilerplate comment on the feasibility of taking such photos. Got to love it!

FHA has, for years, required subject photos that captured each side - extending the requirement to comp photos isn't really as surprise.
