I got this email yesterday from a company. I don't think I want to take on that liability.

Field Inspection Program
We are reaching out to Home Inspectors and Appraisers in your area to join our Field Inspection Program. This inspection program requires inspectors to take photos with your mobile phone and upload them after the inspection. No reports or estimates are required. No computer is needed. All work is completed from your mobile phone. Most of these inspections take no more than 30 minutes.

Inspections will require you to do a complete walk around the property and climb the roof to document damaged and undamaged areas. This is a great opportunity for Home Inspectors and Appraisers to fill in additional appointments throughout the week. The range of payments for these assignments is $89 to $145 per file.

If you are interested in completing the required online training to receive assignments from our firm, please click the following link and submit your information. There is no cost to join the program. There is no cost to take the online training. Once online training is completed you will receive a welcome email on how assignments are dispatched to you

That's not a bad idea.

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO :nono: I can not do that roof deal nor can I have the truck to carry a 50++++ foot ladder. Also, I am an appraiser not a roof inspector

I rarely climb on the roof when doing full blown Home Inspections. Only if its low slope and not too high off the ground. I can see just fine with a pair of binoculars and experienced eyes standing firmly on terra firma. That and an attic inspection. Ironically, the high pitched roofs are usually readily accessible via the attic while the low sloped ones are a SOB via the attic. Life is a whole lot of trade offs.

If someone held a gun to my head, said you’re losing 50% of your traditional appraisal workflow and have to replace that volume either by doing field measuring/inspecting or staring at a computer screen, behind a desk, getting fat and tearing my hair out doing desktops, I’d choose the field work every day and twice on Sunday.

I already have a ladder in the trunk and roofs don't scare me. I might give one a try.
