<span style='color:darkblue'>Wayne opines thusly:
"I am a paid Zone Alarm user also, I believe in paying for
software that works good, so I have the "pro" version.
Wish I didn't pay them, it seems like they took the money
from me and other users and put a bunch of stuff there that
is unneeded and unwanted."
Absolutely one of my biggest pet peeves with software. DeLorme's mapping software people should spend their time getting more roads identified and wrong ones removed. That may be a lot of unsexy leg work, but would be more appreciated (by far) than the forced bells and whistles that interfere. My version 6.0 forces you to remove certain unneeded features each and every time I fire it up. Speaking with them on the phone indicated that this was the only way to shut down the unwanted features each time (like the routing overlay, and a couple others).
They should have the "simple version" available and charge more for it!
Bill in NY mentioned some problems with installing ZoneAlarm. The last time I tried, nine months ago, to install it on this Toshiba laptop, I got to spend a weekend reformatting the hard drive after not being able to use the Internet fully for several months.
As I was down to my last "reload" for MLS, it knocked me out of that permanently. I rarely do residential work, but there are still times it would be nice to have the service.
I am hesitant to try again, but if I do, its bigtime CD burning time before I start.
