For Those That Use Apex

I've been doing work for some CA appraisers. Alot of the sketches they send me have angles. I'm not sure if I've discovered the best way to do angles in apex. I just use the arrow keys but I'm not quite happy with the results. I know winsketch has a feature that enables you to do angles that are more straight and exact. Does apex have a similar feature?

I use alamode. But, I have used Apex for years. Try (15.3 r 45) to draw a 15.3 foot 45 degree angle. Or it could be (15.3 L 45) depending on your direction.

Tim's suggestion works great for angles that are not 90 or 45 degrees. I have to play around when I do it to determine if I need to go right 69 degrees or left 159 degrees though! If the degree is 45, you can type in the distance and use page up to go to the northeast, page down to go to the southeast, end to go to the southwest or home to go to the northwest. Or if you have how far out and how far over--type in the distance to the right or left, then type in the distance up or down (do not press enter between the two) and after both, then enter (that does a 45 degree angle. That also works for a curved line if you know the up and down.

That type of sketch is why I recommend doing the outline of the building in free form first. If you have to back track or change your mind several times, or match up a line or corner on the opposite of the building, and other strange things, the free form isn't calculated area and lets you wonder all over the place. Once you have decided in free form where all the lines should be then you can select your calculated area and just follow the dots (using the J key to join corners). The free form first will prevent the blue screen of death! Because the computer's little mind doesn't get all confused with calculations.
